WARNING: This article contains spoilers for the "Both Things Can Be True" episode of This Is Us season 5. Read at your own risk.

The recently-released episode of This Is Us season 5 hints that something more is coming for Kevin Pearson (Justin Hartley) and his ex-wife, Sophie (Alexandra Breckenridge). It looks like there are regrets, particularly for the latter as she seemed to wonder the "what could've been" for them.

The previous episode of This Is Us season 5 is titled "Both Things Can Be True" and it ended with a scene featuring the former love interests of Kevin. Sophie, Cassidy (Jennifer Morrison), and Zoe (Melanie Liburd) pick up a copy of the magazine with the cover announcing his engagement.

The three had mixed reactions upon learning the news, but Sophie looks melancholic with what she saw. Although she smiled at first, the pain seemed to be evident in her face. She's possibly reflecting on their "what could have been" and the lingering feelings she has for Kevin.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, writer Danielle Bauman has something to say about that particular reaction of Sophie at the end of the episode. She said that everything's going to be okay, but she also noted that they had a plan for Kevin for a "long, long time" and viewers have to wait for it.

Bauman's statement seemed to indicate that Sophie remains part of Kevin's storyline. However, it's yet to be seen how this could play out now that he's engaged to the mother of his twins, Madison (Caitlin Thompson). Their relationship didn't have a perfect start, but it's apparent they have feelings for each other.

Meanwhile, the next episode of This Is Us season 5 comes with the title "Brotherly Love" and it'll see Kevin visiting Randall (Sterling K. Brown) in Philadelphia. The promo teases the reunion of the two brothers, who drifted apart after their huge fight in season 4.

Kevin wants Randall to be his best man at his wedding, but he doesn't know how to ask his brother. Although they made amends midway through the current installment, they still need to settle some things between them. In next week's episode, they're going to have a face-to-face conversation.

The promo starts with Randall's wife, Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson), telling her husband that Kevin is coming to visit them. He starts to wonder what would be their conversation and she's also concerned about it. The clip ended with Kevin telling his brother "there are some things I need to say to you."

The next episode of This Is Us season 5 arrives on Tuesday, April 13, on NBC.
