Years have passed since the public last saw 2NE1 as an official K-Pop group. Following their disbandment in 2016, the four members have since worked on their respective careers.

While the four legendary K-Pop stars have always maintained their silence, comeback rumors have remained apparent among the fandom. But, it was only recently when fans and followers had high hopes toward the group's return to the music scene.

This comes after insiders claimed that the K-Pop group reunited earlier this year, specifically during Minzy's birthday, and recorded a comeback track. BLACKJACKs immediately celebrated until reps of the idols dismissed the rumors.

Koreaboo said that CL's spokesperson released a statement to clarify the comeback reports. As translated by Soompi, the rep debunked all the claims and deemed them as false.

As explained, there is no truth to the assertions that 2NE1 recorded a comeback track "as a full group." The same spokesperson, then, added that it is a "misunderstanding," which emerged after the four members reunited during Minzy's birthday earlier in January. "There are no specific plans at all regarding preparations for a full-group reunion and song release."

Reports continued that Park Bom's agency echoed the statements. D-Nation Entertainment released a clarification, noting that "nothing has been decided in regards to a reunion." Moreover, the alleged "recording did not take place."

While the dismissal of the reports has become sad news for the fandom, many are still hopeful that 2NE1 will make a comeback soon. Some are even positive that this will happen in due time.

The members, themselves, have repeatedly expressed their desire to do something for their fans and followers. Since their exit, the four K-Pop idols have always mentioned their longing to do an official comeback and release tracks for BLACKJACKs.

Just this year alone, Sandara Park and Minzy previously shared their hopes before their audience. Last month, Park told in an interview that she and the rest of 2NE1 "share the same heart" about standing on stage and greeting their fans.

The K-Pop star emphasized, however, that there are "no concrete plans yet." Nevertheless, she asserted that the group will reunite before they all get "osteoporosis."

On Minzy's end, she sparked hope among their fans last February. She shared that 2NE1 is "brewing something," according to the Korea Portal. She, also, revealed that CL was the one who suggested it first, adding that Park Bom and Sandara Park agreed to it "without any second thoughts."
