The Suicide Squad filming has been finished and set for an August release. But since the production is now complete, fans were hoping the film goes in a different direction and will be moved at an earlier date. Yet, it looks like director James Gunn has no plans in changing it and sticks to the original schedule.

Recently, Gunn confirmed that the work for The Suicide Squad is done, including the visual effects. The movie didn't have a lot of reshoots, which makes it possible to finish the production earlier than expected. The cast and crew did not encounter further delays despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

There are still a few months left before the film comes out and Warner Bros. does its part to make fans more excited. Over the past weeks, character posters and two trailers have been unveiled, and further generates the hype. With that, fans were hoping the release date will be moved.

However, Gunn made it clear that won't happen and the release date of The Suicide Squad stays in August. In his Twitter post announcing that work for the film is finished, the director answered "mo" to the question about the movie getting an earlier release.

Gunn reasoned out that he wants "as many people to be able to see it in theaters as possible." This would only make sense as more theaters will start to open in August, since it is expected that a lot of people will get vaccinated by that time.

Meanwhile, Gunn previously confirmed that The Suicide Squad will introduce a different Thinker (Peter Capaldi), who's not similar to the one Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) has dealt with in The CW's The Flash, Clifford DeVoe. In the movie, he is a supervillain who can control minds and do telekinesis.

The latest trailer saw the Thinker not present when Starro woke up, which suggests that he has ties to the villain. Right now, it remains uncertain what would be the version of the character in the DC Comic, as Clifford DeVoe was the most popular one.

Some suspected that the Thinker introduced in the movie is going to be the latest version of the character. This might be a similar move, just like what they did with Ratcatcher 2 (Daniela Melchoir). The latter is Ratcatcher's daughter and was made specifically for the film.

The Suicide Squad is set to be released theatrically on August 6, 2021, and it will also be digitally available on HBO Max for a month.
