Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, has released a new photo of her youngest son, Prince Louis, as he celebrates his third birthday on April 23. The proud mom of three also confirmed her son with Prince William has started attending nursery school.

Amid the recent sadness and loss in the royal family, Louis's photo was a breath of fresh air. Kate Middleton shared the snap on the Kensington Royal Instagram account, which has been well-received by nearly a million followers.

The young royal's new birthday photo showed him on a bicycle that looked like a hand-me-down from his older brother, Prince George. Louis wore an all-navy ensemble and had a matching backpack on.

The message on the post stated that Louis started nursery school "this week." According to E! News, the three-year-old is enrolled at the same nursery school attended by her sister, Princess Charlotte, in 2018 at Willocks Nursery in London.

Middleton usually releases photos of her children as they turn a year older. Next in line would be Charlotte, who will turn six years old in May. George, on the other hand, will be eight years old in July.

Both older Cambridge kids are attending Thomas's Battersea and have also gone back to in-person classes this week. Charlotte is in Year 1 while George is in Year 3. Next year, it's expected that Louis will join his siblings in the big school as he begins kindergarten. The children's schools are within a short distance of Kensington Palace, the home of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

For most of the pandemic, however, the children had to stay at home in Anmer Hall in Norfolk and take online classes. During a podcast interview on BBC Radio, William confessed that homeschooling is not for him as it tested his own skills and patience.

William also praised his wife for having much more patience to guide the children in their school work. The Duke of Cambridge also confessed, rather embarrassingly, that he forgot what he learned in math as he struggled to tutor George.

Kate Middleton, on the other hand, confessed during a video chat with a group of parents in January 2021 that homeschooling pulled her in different directions and various roles. Aside from being the children's "teacher," she was also their hairdresser, much to the horror of her kids. The Duchess of Cambridge, however, said that her biggest support system in this challenging time has been her husband.
