Fans are now wondering about the future of the hit manga series Berserk after Kentaro Miura's untimely demise. As the prolific mangaka has yet to finish the over-three-decade-old manga, how will Guts, Griffith, and Casca's story continue?
Miura died on May 6 due to acute aortic dissection. He was 54. As the manga and anime world is still reeling from the surprising news, fans fill the social media with honor to celebrate the life of one of the best manga creators.
The franchise's official Twitter account announced the news of the manga artist's passing. However, it didn't reveal what will happen to the series that Miura has left.
According to Epic Dope, the manga had been released irregularly in the last decade as Miura didn't want to push himself so hard. But knowing how detailed each page of the manga is, readers fully understand its sporadic releases.
In his 2019 interview with the French newspaper Le Monde, he revealed that he was trying to complete Berserk by looking after his health. It was part of his prayer to complete the series in his lifetime, knowing life was not eternal.
The manga in question was, reportedly, on its way to its final pages. It recently dropped Chapter 364 and after that, it remains to be seen what will be next for the series.
So far, there are no words about the series' fate yet and it looks like everything about it remains undecided. No one knows if Guts, Griffith and Casca will receive a proper ending, but it seems Miura's assistant hints at their future.
In a post on social media, via Comicbook, Twitter user @MRko_aki___, who noted in his bio that he works under Miura, said they would "do their best," though he did not reveal on which. Fans start to wonder if he means to assure the professor that they will do good in the future or it has something to do with the story of Berserk.
Will Studio Gaga, the company that Miura created to produce the series, continue the manga? Miura had four assistants, Yoshimitsu Kurosaki, Akio Miyaji, Shinshu Hirai, and Arihide Nagashima, here that helped him complete the task of releasing each chapter.
As they probably know how to work on it, will fans see the end for the medieval Europe-inspired dark fantasy world? Up to this point, Young Animal, the manga's publication, is yet to address the future of Berserk.
