A German woman who was unaware of her lucky fortune walked around for several weeks with a ticket that will make her a multimillionaire many times over.

Lotto Bayern said the 45-year-old woman was the sole winner of a draw June 9, having correctly guessed seven fields on a German lottery ticket, reports said.

"I still get dizzy at the thought that I carelessly carried almost 33 million euros around in my purse for several weeks," the New York Post quoted the woman as saying.

The woman - a mother of one - picked all six correct white numbers, plus the yellow Super Ball.

According to Lotto Bayern, the odds of doing so are one in 139,838,160. The German gambling agency's jackpot was worth 33 million euros ($39 million).

As for her future, the woman said she will not be playing the lottery anytime soon.

She said that $39 million is "more than enough for my husband, my daughter and me." She said she plans to use the money to help protect the environment.

Not everyone is as lucky as the German woman who found out long after the draw she was a major lottery winner.

In May, a woman from California told state lottery officials she had mistakenly washed down a $26 million winning ticket.

California state lottery officials confirmed that one person possessed the winning Super Lotto Plus ticket from the Nov. 14, 2020, draw.

The woman failed to take a photo of the winning ticket, which would have served as evidence that she was the rightful winner.

Instead, the unclaimed prize went back into the California Lottery Super Lotto prize pool, according to Casino.org.

Billions of dollars of lottery winnings go unclaimed every year in the U.S. alone, experts say.
