A lucky slot player at the Suncoast Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas received a gift Christmas Eve after he won more than $15 million during a brief stop.

It was the biggest slots win in Las Vegas in eight years, the management of the Suncoast Hotel and Casino said. The winner was identified as Kevin only.

On Twitter, Suncoast Casino commented: "Megabucks Jackpot Alert!" alongside a photo of the winner. "Congratulations to Kevin for hitting the $15,491,103 Megabucks Progressive Jackpot at @suncoastcasino!" Fox 13 quoted the casino's announcement.

While making a quick slots stop Kevin lined up all three Megabucks symbols - becoming an instant millionaire with just a $40 wager. It was thought to have been a $3 spin.

International Game Technology's Megabucks jackpot pool in Nevada is reset at $10 million - making it the biggest jackpot slot game in the state.

The biggest jackpot on record for MegaBucks was in 2003 when a 25-year-old man from Los Angeles won $39 million.

Three years before that, an unidentified woman won $35 million at the now-closed Desert Inn Resort.

In an interview with Fox News, a Boyd Gaming representative said the prize money was a Christmas Eve to remember. "We are thrilled and honored we could play a part in this monumental holiday jackpot at the Suncoast," he said.

According to the casino, Kevin allocates his time between Las Vegas and Alaska and that he'll invest his winnings in his business and also "pay it forward."

Social media users congratulated Kevin:

"Congrats!!! I can't even win $100, and I am there every weekend," one user commented on Facebook with a laughing emoji.

"Wow," another person chimed in. "Merry Christmas to you," said another Facebook user.

"Makes one hell of a Christmas gift! If I won that check would never fit in the Ferrari," another social media user commented.

"That's what I call a Stimulus Check," said another Facebook user.

The Suncoast Hotel and Casino will not get a cut of Kevin's miracle win, Vital Vegas, the local online media portal, said in a tweet after the payout.

A laid-off North Carolina preschool teacher won $250,000 from a scratch ticket, an announcement post from the NC Education Lottery said last week.

Many hotels are closed during the middle of the week, and a 25-percent statewide cap has been imposed on casino floors because of the pandemic.
