While in Barcelona, Spain, Shakira claims she was attacked by two wild boars.

The singer rushed to Instagram to tell her fans about the terrifying ordeal, claiming that she was assaulted by boars who stole her purse when she was in a park with her son, Milan.

In a series of videos posted to her Instagram story on Thursday, the Grammy-winning singer detailed the trauma.

"Look at how two wild boars who attacked me in the park left my bag," Shakira said in one of the videos, holding up her damaged bag to her 70 million followers.

Shakira is the latest victim of the increasingly aggressive hogs which have invaded the Catalan capital in recent years.

In 2016, Spanish police received 1,187 phone calls about wild hogs attacking dogs, plundering cat-feeders, holding up traffic and running into cars in the city.

In 2013, one city police officer attempted to take charge of the problem himself and shot at a boar with his service revolver, but missed and hit his partner instead.

Boar numbers have surged across Europe, not just in Spain, with over 10 million roaming the continent.

They can be violent as well as disease carriers, and they can thrive in practically any habitat, even cities where they can feed on rubbish.

Many communities have used a variety of tactics to reduce their numbers as they have become more aggressive and a nuisance.

Thousands of animals have been killed by urban hunters in Berlin, but the problem endures.

Last year, police officers in Rome provoked controversy when they shot a family of wild boars with tranquilizer darts and administered deadly injections after they walked into a children's playground.

Reuters has reported that the persistent boar issue has even impacted Rome's mayoral contest, with Mayor Virginia Raggi, who is seeking re-election, lodging a legal challenge accusing the Lazio region of failing to keep the animals out of the capital earlier this month.

The region refuted her claims, claiming that the city governments are responsible for the administration of the animals in the Rome area.
