While Elon Musk's tweets should frequently be taken with a grain of salt, his statements on the microblogging platform are frequently worth the attention of the masses.

It's unsurprising, however, that Musk's latest tweet about the possibility of becoming a full-time influencer gained widespread notice.

Tesla's chief executive officer is an avid fan of social media, and each of his comments here is keenly monitored by the millions of people who follow him on the digital site.

Now, this: Musk is considering quitting his employment and pursuing a career as an influencer, the world's wealthiest man revealed in a Friday tweet.

"Thinking of quitting my jobs and becoming a full-time influencer wdyt," he stated without further explanation.

He asked his Twitter followers last month if he should sell 10% of his share in the electric car producer, and the majority agreed. Since then, he has sold roughly $12 billion worth of stock.

Musk sold 934,091 shares for approximately $963 million on Friday to cover taxes associated with the execution of 2.2 million options.

Tesla shares are down 18% from their November 4 high, as he liquidated his Tesla holdings.

Since Nov. 8, Musk has sold a total of 11 million shares and gained 12.87 million shares through the exercise of options.

He remains, however, the world's wealthiest man, with a $266 billion fortune that has increased by $110 billion this year alone as a result of the success of his firms, despite the fact that he has apparently kept his promise of not owning a single house.

While many regard Musk as odd, the majority agree that he is an extremely talented businessman capable of making big judgments and aggressive moves.

While his unconventional method of working has earned him critics, his supporters are numerous. However, with great accolade may come great responsibility to keep at it.
