The new year is about to begin and fans will finally see the release of "Attack on Titan" Season 4 Part 2. The franchise is now dropping major hints about the series, from the number of episodes it has to the first episode's official plotline.

The series has already dropped the new episode's trailer, teasing the rematch between Eren and Reinier. By the looks of it, there is only a few set of "Attack on Titan" Season 4 Part 2 episodes left and fans are hoping it will give justice to Hajime Isayama's masterpiece.

Comicbook noted that the final season's second cour only has 12 episodes left. With the source material's intense turn of events, some say this is not sufficient to give the series a proper ending.

This leads to the theories that the franchise will officially end with a movie. The manga has formally ended earlier this year, putting the bloody conflict to a close that many have tracked.

Despite the controversy, Isayama swore he would return to the "Attack on Titan" universe in the near future, leading to the assumption that there would be a movie coming. Sure, the final chapter's director's cut has left the doors open for new stories, but it has put the tale of the Scout Regiment to a close.

So, what will happen in "Attack on Titan" Season 4 Part 2? The franchise's official website has dropped the first episode's synopsis, teasing the intense battle between Eren and Reiner.

"In the pouring rain, a soldier is lying on the ground," it reads. "Beside him, a man crawls out from the steam of a mysterious Titan."

Marley will be making a surprise attack in Shiganshina District, where everything started. The Titans will begin to move and the Founding Titan and Armored Titan will be facing each other again.

The new episode's blurb revealed director Yuichiro Hayashi helms the upcoming installment with Hiroshi Seko handling the script. MAPPA Studio remains the final season's animator and it cannot be denied that the pressure is now on for the production company to deliver.

The series is one of the biggest anime and manga and many are looking forward to seeing how things will turn out in the final season. Hence, many hope it will have a proper ending. "Attack on Titan" Season 4 Part 2 Episode 1 will be out on Sunday, Jan. 9.
