A bizarre battle between Prince Charles and Prince Andrew happened at Sandringham Estate during Christmas in 1999. Globe reiterated that the two royal-born Princes fought over bathroom privileges, with a former royal maid revealing the claims.
As alleged, there were suite and bathroom assignments for the British Royals at the estate as they stayed for the holiday celebrations. However, the Duke of York placed his toiletries in his brother's bathroom and refused to take them away.
Janette McGowan, who worked for the royals in 1999 and 2000, deemed the event a "bizarre standoff." She added that the Queen's second son only "backed down" when Queen Elizabeth II stepped in and had words with him, saying "he had to use the other bathroom."
The former Buckingham Palace maid made the assertions to The Sun in January. Amid lifting the "lid on Prince Andrew's childish tantrums," she recalled that the entire household staff in Sandringham were first notified about the "ongoing situation."
Janette McGowan continued that they were told not to move or touch anything in the bathroom because of the row between the two royal princes. She, also, shared that the Duke of York was almost 40 years old at the time, adding that "it was very odd behavior for someone of that age."
Meanwhile, she shared some positive remarks about Prince Charles. She said that the Prince of Wales was "very grown-up about it," and patiently waited until Queen Elizabeth II intervened.
Buckingham Palace, alongside the British Royal Family, especially Prince Andrew and Prince Charles, has yet to make a comment about the matter. Moreover, no proof has come to light to prove the allegations.
Accordingly, it is unclear whether the story is true. Nevertheless, MailOnline said that Janette McGowan went on to work for Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, as well as for Princess Michael of Kent, during her time working for the British Royal Family.
A separate report from The Sun earlier in January revealed that another former Buckingham Palace aide shared some experiences working for Prince Andrew. Charlotte Briggs, who started working at the palace in 1996, exposed how "demanding and entitled" the Queen's second son was during her employment.
As stated, the Duke of York left her in tears because of his "foul-mouthed rants." She reportedly had to suffer his "sweary outburst" after running up and down the stairs to deal with the issue he had with the curtain beside him.
Briggs asserted that the royal-born Prince was a "downer on things," adding that "he thinks he is above everyone else." She pointed out, however, that the rest of his siblings, including Prince Charles, were "wonderful."
