JTBC is about to drop the much-awaited premiere of "Thirty-Nine" tonight, featuring Son Ye Jin, Jeon Mi Do and Kim Ji Hyun. As this will be the first time fans are about to see these three together on the small screen, what does this new series has to offer?
"Thirty-Nine" tells the story of love and friendship. Son Ye Jin, Jeon Mi Do and Kim Ji Hyun will play the roles of three best friends who have met in high school and remained friends until they reach 40.
However, as they enjoy their last year in their 30s, unforeseen circumstances will come their way. So, what makes this different from other K-dramas?
Soompi noted the new series has a stellar cast. Aside from Hyun Bin's fiancée and two other known female leads in the industry, it takes pride in its list of actors who will play as the three protagonists' love interests.
This will include Yeon Woo Jin as Kim Sun Woo, who will develop a romantic feeling for fellow dermatologist Cha Mi Jo (Son Ye Jin). Lee Moo Saeng will also join the show as Kim Jin Seok, who will experience love at first sight with Jung Chan Young (Jeon Mi Do).
Lastly, Lee Tae Hwan will play the role of Park Hyun Joon, who will have a special close bond with Jang Hoo Hee (Kim Ji Hyun). Will these three couples end up with each other at the end of "Thirty-Nine?"
Aside from interesting love stories, the trio's friendship has to stand the test of time as they are about to realize they don't have much time left to be together. The three will soon have to say goodbye to each other, making them see the importance of their relationship and love.
Lastly, the JTBC series promises a relatable story that will heal everyone's heart. Viewers can laugh and cry with Son Ye Jin, Jeon Mi Do and Kim Ji Hyun as they chronicle their everyday lives just like any other ordinary woman.
Meanwhile, this, too, will be the first time Son Ye Jin will return to the small screen after two years since "Crash Landing on You" in 2020. With that being said, this makes "Thirty-Nine" one of the most anticipated releases this February, per SCMP.
So, fans have to wait and see if "Thirty-Nine" will indeed deliver when it finally premieres on Wednesday, Feb. 16 at 10:30 p.m. KST.
