Big Hit Music has officially broken its silence and addressed the issue surrounding its talent, BTS's Jimin. News emerged the National Health Insurance seized the K-pop star's apartment due to unpaid health insurance premiums.
Korean news outlet Biz Hankook first broke the news that the National Health Insurance seized Jimin's apartment at Nine One Hannam in Seoul on January 25. The South Korean singer reportedly did not pay his health insurance premiums, which Big Hit cleared.
Soompi noted the report revealed the idol received four separate notices about the impounding through registered mail. At the time, his apartment was already temporarily seized.
The sequestration was lifted on April 22 after he paid his overdue health insurance premiums. Big Hit then addressed the issue by releasing an official statement to clear all the doubts.
It revealed the sequestering was because of an error at the company. It explained that the label first received all the mails that arrived at the artists' dorms.
In the process of relaying the mails to the artists, a part of it was "omitted by mistake." Jimin's busy schedule was also at play.
Due to his activities abroad, an extended period of rest and other activities, he was completely unaware of other matters. His premiums became overdue.
However, he paid the arrears in full as soon as he learned about it. Now, the issue has been resolved.
Big Hit then apologized for giving the artists and the fans some concern about its negligence. The apartment in question is one of the most expensive apartments in Korea that Jimin bought, per AllKpop.
In real estate reports last June 1, 2021, the BTS member bought his own place at the Nine One Hannam complex in Seoul, known as the most expensive apartment complex in Korea, along with fellow band member RM.
RM bought the second to the smallest apartment (293.93m2) in the complex for about 6.36 billion KRW or $5.7 million in cash without a loan on March 31, 2021. He officially became the apartment's owner on May 25.
Jimin also purchased the same-sized apartment in the complex for around 5.9 billion KRW or $5.3 million in cash and officially became its owner on May 26. The price difference between the two units is said to be because of the additional terrace space provided at RM's place.
Nine One Hannam apartments are becoming more famous among many celebrities and entrepreneurs today due to their exclusivity.
