TvN has set the stage for the coming of "Tale of the Nine-Tailed" Season 2. A media outlet revealed the lead cast of the series had completed their first script reading earlier this week, proving the show is now in the works.
Several reports claimed the first season's original cast members, Lee Dong Wook and Kim Bum, attended the session. They were also joined by the newly-added "Tale of the Nine-Tailed" Season 2 cast member Kim So Yeon.
Allkpop noted the work for the show's second season had finally started. After tvN renewed the series until the third season, fans had a lot to look forward to.
The second season will be set in the 1930s Japanese colonial era. It will follow the story of Lee Yeon (Lee Dong Wook) as he continuously hunts down evil spirits on the peninsula.
It will also delve into Lee Rang's (Kim Bum) past. In addition, with a new character added, it will explore the life story of this mysterious guardian deity.
Meanwhile, a media outlet confirmed Kim So Yeon's part in "Tale of the Nine-Tailed" Season 2 in February. It was previously reported that Jo Bo Ah would not return to the K-drama to reprise her role as Yi Ah Eum.
With that said, many wonder who will play the role of the female protagonist in the series, opposite Lee Dong Wook. Now, Kim So Yeon is confirmed to play one of the lead characters.
She will play the role of Ryun Hong Joo, per Pinkvilla. She is widely referred to as a woman with "unparalleled beauty." She, too, is the owner of Myoyeongak, a top restaurant in Gyeongseong, and one of the four major mountain gods who ruled the Korean Peninsula with Lee Yeon.
Meanwhile, the second season will answer how Lee Yeon became a mountain god. It may feature 12 episodes--four episodes shorter than the first season's 16 episodes.
However, it is still expected to give justice to the historical drama that many have loved since it started in 2020. There is also high anticipation for Kim So Yeon's acting, knowing she received a Grand Prize for her perfect portrayal of her character as Cheon Seo Jin in "The Penthouse" from the 2021 SBS Drama Awards.
Of course, fans, too, want to see what she and Lee Dong Wook will bring to the table when they start working together on the small screen. "Tale of the Nine-Tailed" Season 2 is expected to be out in the first half of 2023.
