BTS took everyone by surprise when they announced they would be taking a hiatus to focus on their solo careers. However, HYBE cleared the group would not be on a break but would only concentrate on their own activities.

BTS discussed their future during their ninth-anniversary dinner on Tuesday, June 14. Suga started to talk about their hiatus and individual artistic goals, as well as how the COVID-19 affected their touring plans and music releases.

The band spoke in Korean and the word "hiatus" was seen in English subtitles. However, their music label released a statement about the real deal of their break.

The agency revealed that Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook would still be working on projects as a group and individually.

"BTS are not taking a hiatus," the statement read, via AP News. "Members will be focusing more on solo projects at this time."

However, no details about BTS's future collaborations or solo projects have been announced yet.

Meanwhile, in their discussion, the septet talked about the hardships of becoming individual artists within the K-pop genre. RM saw that the problem with K-pop and the whole idol system was it didn't give a chance for the artists to mature.

V then recalled his conversation with J-Hope as they discussed how working solo would improve their synergy as a band. Suga added he wanted to try out new genres.

As they seemed ready to take on their solo careers, Jungkook assured everyone they would be taking some time to have fun and experience a lot of things. He then promised they would return someday more mature than they were now.

Meanwhile, AllKpop noted that Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook are now living separately after being together for much of their careers. Despite the separation, they all proved they became even closer after realizing how precious each other was.

BTS also confirmed that they would be ending their dorm living as the apartment lease had already ended. Koreaboo cited the boys are now living in their own luxurious apartments.

With that said, the hitmakers couldn't help but reminisced about their dorm lives and decided it was the best time to live separately after living together for so long. RM and Suga lived together for 13 years, starting in 2010, three years before the group debuted.

BTS also explained that their recently released anthology album, Proof, would mark the end of the first season of their group activities. Now, they are in the second part of their careers.
