Leonardo DiCaprio and Camila Morrone have reportedly broken up after four years together. Though the reason behind their split remains unknown, tension allegedly started to build up between the two before they parted ways.

A source confirmed Leonardo DiCaprio and Camilla Morrone's split to People. So, what went wrong?

Page Six reported that the first signs of tension between the two's relationship started to show about two months earlier. In May, the actor was seen comforting his then-girlfriend after sharing an "emotional conversation" on a beach in Malibu.

Paparazzi revealed that the 25-year-old model was seen with a furrowed facial expression, while the "Titanic" star seemed to be listening intently while keeping his gaze toward the ground.

Though no one knows when the pair officially called it quits, DiCaprio was reportedly spotted on a solo vacation in Europe over the summer. He was also seen on a yacht in St. Tropez in July.

Page Six claimed he was with Tobey Maguire and Tristan Thompson at the time, hanging with a bunch of models at a party thrown by the king of nightlife, Richie Akiva. However, DiCaprio and Morrone's last public outing was said to be over the weekends of the 2022 Fourth of July in Malibu.

Meanwhile, ahead of DiCaprio and Morrone's split, many believed they were pretty serious with each other. They traveled the world together and even adopted two huskies in 2020.

A source told People that their romance wasn't a "casual relationship." Morrone usually spent a lot of time at the actor's house, while she was long known as his girlfriend.

The 47-year-old star introduced her to both of his parents long ago, and a different insider revealed he loved to be with Morrone, spending 24/7 with each other amid the COVID-19 lockdown.

They were said to be very close, not minding the huge age gap between them. Talking about this issue, Morrone told the Los Angeles Times that there were many relationships in Hollywood and the world where people had large age gaps.

"I just think anyone should be able to date who they want to date," she said. Morrone also expressed her frustration over mostly being known as DiCaprio's girl and not for her own identity.

Though she understood the association, she was confident that it would eventually slip away and be less of a conversation. Reps for Morrone and DiCaprio are yet to address the issue as of this writing.
