K-pop Girl group BLACKPINK successfully concluded their second Japan Dome tour, painting the Osaka night sky in pink despite member Jisoo's unfortunate absence due to COVID-19.
On June 3 and 4, BLACKPINK hosted their 'BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR [BORN PINK] JAPAN' at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka, Japan. Having already met 110,000 fans at the Tokyo Dome in April, they added another 100,000 in Osaka, drawing a total of 210,000 spectators from just two cities and four performances.
The Kyocera Dome holds a special significance for BLACKPINK as it marked their fastest entry as an international girl group after their debut. This led to fierce competition for tickets, selling out all rounds, and their pop-up store proved their extraordinary popularity among local fans.
In light of Jisoo's COVID-19 diagnosis, remaining members Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa decided to take the stage as a trio, honoring their promise to fans who had been waiting for a long time. Jisoo expressed her regrets to fans and requested them to lend their support and energy to the members performing on stage.
The fans responded with resounding cheers that heated up the venue. Answering the roaring cheers, BLACKPINK opened with an even more intense performance of 'How You Like That'. The trio stated, "We're glad to be back" and "Jisoo is upset and worried that she couldn't be here. She really wanted to see the fans in Osaka. The three of us will work hard and have fun on behalf of Jisoo."
In their role as world-class artists, the members filled Jisoo's void with captivating performances and an overwhelming presence on stage. They rolled out performances of mega-hits that have received explosive love from music fans worldwide, including 'Pretty Savage', 'Whistle', 'Lovesick Girls', 'Kill This Love', 'Shut Down', and 'DDU-DU DDU-DU'. Their high-quality concert production, enriched with YG's live band sound and performance know-how, heated up the audience.
From diverse solo performances to the encore stage, BLACKPINK relentlessly displayed their unique charm. They thanked the local fans for their unwavering love and received applause and cheers in return, promising another meeting in the future.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK is currently carrying out their 'BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR [BORN PINK]', the largest scale world tour by a K-pop girl group, expected to gather around 1.5 million fans. Having successfully completed their Japan Dome tour, the group will next move to Melbourne and Sydney, Australia, where member Rosé spent her childhood. They are also set to headline the British Summer Time Festival at Hyde Park in the UK in July, marking the first K-pop artist to do so.
