HBO MAX's new sensation, "The Idol," has generated significant criticism for its brazen depiction of adult content, leading to accusations of "misogyny." Among the cast members facing a backlash is KPOP star Jennie from BLACKPINK, who has stirred controversy over her character's provocative portrayal.

In the show, Jennie plays Dyanne, a backup dancer known for her suggestive performances. This kind of provocative content is a deviation from the norm in South Korea, where mainstream pop idols typically avoid risqué scenes, making Jennie's role all the more controversial.

South Korean viewers have expressed their dissatisfaction with Jennie's role in the show, going so far as to label it "pornographic." Given Jennie's well-crafted image as a brand ambassador for high-end brands such as Chanel, many fans felt that her involvement in such a provocative series tarnished her image.

Despite her reputation as a refined brand ambassador, Jennie seemed to have suddenly departed from her established persona, the Korean publication Daily Naver reported.

Her fans have expressed their dismay at her recent choices, with one fan lamenting, "Jennie has undone all of what Blackpink had accomplished through hard work."

Another distressed supporter added, "It's difficult to accept that she chose to perform that dance with those movements and facial expressions."

One fan expressed their disappointment, commenting on the quality of the show, "Seeing her perform in such a poorly executed drama is shocking. The acting is barely tolerable."

"It's truly embarrassing," another stated. "Her reputation has taken a hit, and I fear it may never recover."

Despite the negative responses, Jennie's performance in "The Idol" has garnered some positive reviews. Glamour magazine was unambiguous in their praise, writing, "There's One Good Reason to Watch The Idol, and Her Name Is Jennie."

In related news, BLACKPINK recently thrilled fans at a sold-out concert at Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena during their Born Pink World Tour. However, during their performance of "Lovesick Girls," Jennie abruptly exited the stage. Fellow bandmate Rosé informed the audience that they would have to continue the show without Jennie. YG Entertainment later confirmed that she had rushed off stage due to health concerns and was currently receiving medical treatment.
