A YouTuber targeted by Starship Entertainment has voiced their grievances.
Starship Entertainment, the agency housing groups like IVE, released a statement on September 14th urging strict legal action against malicious online commentators.
The statement, reflecting the views of their artists and employees, mentioned, "Despite complaints against channels like 'Taldeok Sooyongso', there are still many cyber commentators on YouTube, like 'Luminak', who continue to spread fake news about the entertainment industry, even resorting to sexual harassment and defamation."
The agency further pointed out, "Some of these channels cunningly present rumors as if they are public opinion, misleading the public and attempting to evade the law."
Starship emphasized their commitment to protecting the rights, privacy, and reputation of their artists and urged fans to continue reporting any malicious content.
Following this, the 'Luminak' channel, mentioned by Starship, clarified their stance through their community page, asserting they are not a commentator like 'Taldeok Sooyongso'.
Starting with "To the folks at Starship," the post read, "I've heard I was mentioned. Among those reporting me to Starship, there are fans, but there are also anti-fans pressuring the agency. The videos I create are intended for 'girl group noise marketing', not to insult or defame anyone."
While they acknowledged addressing negative issues related to girl groups, they emphasized their support for them, questioning, "Do you think this is intended to insult and defame girl groups?"
They expressed their disappointment, saying, "It's heartbreaking that Starship mentioned me in the same breath as 'Taldeok Sooyongso'. How can someone like me, who has worked hard creating videos for IVE and Jang Won Young, be compared to such commentators?"
Amidst Starship's strong stance and the YouTuber's statement, public interest in the matter has intensified.
Netizens have been reacting with comments like, "Why would a YouTuber do noise marketing?", "Who's marketing for whom?", "Marketing should be handled by the agency", and "It's better to apologize soon."
Meanwhile, Starship has been consistently taking legal actions against malicious online commentators, including 'Taldeok Sooyongso', for spreading false information, personal attacks, defamatory posts, and malicious comments about their artists.
