BTS's Jungkook unveiled his second solo single, "3D," on September 29th at 1 PM (KST).
According to his agency, Big Hit Music, "3D" is an R&B pop track that playfully explores the feelings for an unreachable person through the unique concept of viewing them in 1D, 2D, and 3D perspectives. The song is characterized by its simple instrumental composition, impactful rhythm, and captivating sound.
This single comes approximately two months after the global hit "Seven," which topped the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and remained at number one on the Global (excluding the U.S.) charts for nine weeks. In "Seven," Jungkook collaborated with female rapper Latto.
For "3D," rapper Jack Harlow, who previously topped the Hot 100 with "INDUSTRY BABY" alongside Lil Nas X, joined as a featured artist, showcasing his distinctive rap style. Harlow's rap seamlessly blends with Jungkook's smooth vocals, adding tension to the track.
Big Hit Music stated, "Fans can expect to see a more mature solo artist in Jungkook following 'Seven'."
The music video, released alongside the track, was filmed in Los Angeles, USA. In various sets, Jungkook metaphorically expresses the message "I want to see you, whom I love, beyond dimensions," as if he's traveling between dimensions.
The music video was directed by Drew Kirsch, who has worked with renowned artists like Taylor Swift, Shakira, and Imagine Dragons. A scene in the video where Jungkook sings and dances under cascading water after breaking a fire hydrant offers a refreshing thrill.
Notably, Jack Harlow, who featured in the song, also made an appearance in the music video, exchanging rap verses with Jungkook over a game of chess.
Jungkook recently headlined the '2023 Global Citizen Festival' held in New York's Central Park on the 24th (local time), marking the first time a Korean solo artist has done so. He passionately performed his solo tracks "Seven," "Euphoria," and "Still With You."
Additionally, he presented a medley of BTS's Hot 100 chart-topping hits "Permission to Dance," "Dynamite," and "Butter," receiving roaring applause from the audience.
