On October 4, the Student Parents' Human Rights Federation (SPHRF), which filed a complaint against MAMAMOO's Hwasa for indecent performance, expressed their intention to appeal the decision of no charges.

A representative from SPHRF said , "The facts corresponding to the indecent act stipulated in Article 245 of the Criminal Code remain unchanged. It doesn't align with the Supreme Court's judgment, so we want to seek a re-investigation and decision from a higher authority."

SPHRF further stated, "This case is an important (legal) judgment on whether it's permissible to depict a sexually suggestive act in public places like entertainment TV programs or university festivals." They argued, "Performances emphasizing perverse or deviant sexuality, which evoke sexual acts, clearly fall under the indecency law."

They also pointed out, "The public was shocked and felt humiliated by Hwasa's actions, but the perpetrator cannot become the victim." This comment seems to be directed at Hwasa, who had previously shared her feelings about the complaint, suggesting she was playing the 'victim card.' SPHRF added, "(Instead of appealing as a victim) reflection and self-restraint are needed."

Previously, the Seongdong Police Station announced at the end of last month that they had decided not to indict Hwasa on the indecency charges filed by SPHRF. The police explained, "After summoning Hwasa as the accused and investigating the content and progression of the performance, and comprehensively reviewing statements from related parties, it was difficult to acknowledge the criminal charges."

Hwasa performed her solo song 'Don't Give It To Me' on the stage of Sungkyunkwan University's festival on May 12th. At that time, she became the center of controversy for her performance, which included suggestive gestures like touching her finger to her tongue and brushing her hand over sensitive body parts.

Recently, she stirred controversy again by appearing on the entertainment program 'Knowing Bros' wearing a 'bra top' style school uniform and performing a provocative dance, leading to criticism for sexualizing school uniforms. Some in the entertainment industry speculate that Hwasa is benchmarking 'Cardi B', a leading figure in Hollywood known for her sexually charged performances.
