K-pop groups have secured a significant number of nominations at Europe's biggest music awards, the "2023 MTV Europe Music Awards (MTV EMA)." BTS's Jungkook and TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT) have been nominated in three categories, while NU'JIN and SEVENTEEN have two nominations each. BLACKPINK, Stray Kids, aespa, and FIFTY FIFTY each received one nomination.
On October 4 (local time), the "2023 MTV EMA" announced this year's list of nominees.
According to the announcement, BTS's Jungkook has been nominated for his debut solo single 'Seven (Feat. Latto)' released last July in the 'Best Song,' 'Best K-Pop,' and 'Biggest Fans' categories. This marks the highest number of nominations for a Korean solo artist. In the 'Best Song' category, Jungkook will compete against renowned pop stars including Doja Cat, Miley Cyrus, Olivia Rodrigo, and Taylor Swift.
The "Biggest Fans" category is particularly noteworthy as BTS has won it for five consecutive years. It remains to be seen if Jungkook can clinch the trophy as a solo artist.
BTS's junior group, TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT), has been nominated for "Best Group," "Best Push," and "Best K-Pop."
SEVENTEEN and NU'JIN each secured nominations in the 'Best Group' and 'Best K-Pop' categories.
BLACKPINK has been nominated in the "Biggest Fans" category, while aespa is up for "Best Group." Stray Kids and FIFTY FIFTY have been included in the "Best K-Pop" category nominations.
Additionally, Korean DJ and producer Peggy Gou has caught attention with her nomination in the 'Best Electronic' category.
The "2023 MTV EMA" will be held on November 5th (local time) in Paris, France.
