The aftermath of the controversial broadcast of "Unanswered Questions" continues to unfold.
On October 11, Attrakt, the agency of the group FIFTY FIFTY, filed a defamation lawsuit against an individual, referred to as "A", for impersonating an insider during an interview on the 1365th episode of SBS's "Unanswered Questions" aired on August 19th, titled "Billboard and Girl Group - Who Broke the Wings?"
Previously, "Unanswered Questions" had highlighted the exclusive contract dispute of FIFTY FIFTY, giving minimal coverage to the stance of Attrakt and its CEO, Jeon Hong-jun. The episode was criticized for being one-sided and emotionally charged, leading to 1,146 complaints filed with the Broadcasting and Communications Review Committee.
In the broadcast, the accused "A" claimed, "The CEO only seemed interested in making money when the song suddenly became popular," and "I wondered why he suddenly started calling himself the 'father' of FIFTY FIFTY when he never once attended their monthly evaluations before their debut."
In response, Attorney Kim Byung-ok from the law firm Seojeong, representing Attrakt, stated, "The remarks from the unidentified 'A' had a significant impact on the trust and reputation of CEO Jeon Hong-jun, especially since there's an ongoing injunction lawsuit between Attrakt and FIFTY FIFTY." He added, "A's statements falsely portrayed CEO Jeon as someone only interested in financial gains, which could tarnish all the genuine efforts he has made over the years."
An Attrakt representative commented, "The unidentified 'A' who was introduced as an insider during the 'Unanswered Questions' interview is not even confirmed to have worked with our company. We plan to proceed with a criminal lawsuit against 'A' without any leniency."
On June 19th, FIFTY FIFTY filed an injunction claiming that Attrakt failed to provide settlement data and neglected the physical and mental health care of the members. However, the Seoul Central District Court dismissed FIFTY FIFTY's request for a suspension of the exclusive contract. The legal representative of FIFTY FIFTY, Law Firm Barun, decided to immediately appeal the decision.
With Attrakt's lawsuit against "A", all eyes are on the potential repercussions this case might bring.
