BTS's Jungkook has clinched a double win at Europe's biggest music awards ceremony, the MTV EMA, becoming the first K-pop solo artist to do so.

On November 6 (Korean time), the '2023 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA)' announced this year's winners list on their official website. Jungkook of BTS seized trophies in both the 'Best Song' and 'Best K-Pop' categories.

Previously nominated in multiple categories, setting a new record for a Korean solo artist at the '2023 MTV EMA,' Jungkook secured wins in both categories, achieving the title of the first Korean solo artist to become a double award winner.

Jungkook surpassed formidable nominees such as Doja Cat, Miley Cyrus, Olivia Rodrigo, and Taylor Swift, winning the 'Best Song' trophy with his solo single 'Seven (feat. Latto).' This marks the first time a K-pop solo artist has won in this category. The only K-pop group to have received this award was BTS in 2020 with 'Dynamite.'

In addition to 'Best Song,' Jungkook also added the 'Best K-Pop' trophy to his achievements for the year. The 'Best K-Pop' category, introduced in 2019, saw BTS win three times until 2021, positioning them as the artist with the most wins in this category.

'Seven,' released in July, has been a global sensation, topping Billboard's 'Hot 100,' breaking the one billion streaming mark on Spotify in the shortest time, and maintaining the number one spot on the 'Daily Top Songs Global' chart for 70 days, enjoying immense popularity.

TXT, the junior group to BTS, also captured the 'Best Push' trophy at the MTV EMA. Having won the 'Best Asia Act' last year and establishing their first connection with the MTV EMA, they have succeeded in winning awards two years in a row.

The 'Best Push' category highlights the most notable artists currently in the global music market, selected for the 'MTV PUSH' campaign. This year, musicians from various genres including Pop, R&B, Hip-hop, and Drill, who have attempted differentiation and set new trends, were nominated, with Tomorrow X Together (TXT) taking the honor of winning.

They also won the 'PUSH Performance of the Year' at the '2023 MTV Video Music Awards' held in the United States this past September.
