G-Dragon, a member of the group Big Bang, will voluntarily appear for police questioning on November 6 (KST) regarding allegations of drug use.
G-Dragon is scheduled to voluntarily appear at the Narcotics Crime Investigation Unit of the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency on November 6. He was charged without detention by the police on the 25th of last month for violating the Act on the Control of Narcotics, etc. Following an investigation related to actor Lee Sun-kyun, the police booked G-Dragon and proceeded with a forced investigation to specify and further probe into G-Dragon's involvement.
G-Dragon had previously received a suspended indictment in 2011 for smoking marijuana. However, he is firmly denying the current allegations of drug use.
On the 27th of last month, through his lawyer, G-Dragon stated, "I wish to clarify that I am not related to the 'violation of the narcotics law' reported in the recent media. However, knowing that many are concerned, I will actively cooperate and earnestly participate in the investigation by the authorities."
G-Dragon has since continued to appeal his innocence through statements. On the 30th of last month, his side emphasized again that "Mr. Kwon Ji-yong (G-Dragon's real name) has not taken drugs," and in relation to this, "we have submitted a voluntary appearance intention letter along with a representation plan to the Narcotics Crime Investigation Unit of the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency," declaring his intention to respond confidently to the investigation.
At the same time, it was added, "In order to swiftly resolve the injustice through a rapid investigation and clarification of the substantive truth, we have voluntarily submitted all necessary materials for the investigation and informed the police that we will actively participate in hair and urine tests."
The next day, G-Dragon's side announced, "On November 6th, we have decided to voluntarily appear at the Narcotics Crime Investigation Unit of the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency and actively engage in the investigation." They also declared a strong response to the spread of unfounded rumors.
With three public statements denying the drug use allegations, attention is focused on whether G-Dragon's claimed injustice will be resolved as he faces his first police inquiry today.
