BTS's Jungkook has written a new chapter in music history as the first solo artist to achieve an unprecedented record on the American Billboard Global charts. According to the latest Billboard charts (dated November 18), Jungkook's title track 'Standing Next to You' from his 'GOLDEN' album has simultaneously clinched the top spot on both the 'Global 200' and 'Global (excluding the US)' charts.
In addition, on the 'Global 200' chart, 'Seven' ranked second and '3D' ninth, marking Jungkook as the first Asian solo artist to have three songs in the top 10. On the 'Global (excluding the US)' chart, 'Seven' and '3D' also performed exceptionally, securing the second and fifth positions, respectively, showcasing Jungkook's strength in Billboard's main two charts.
Previously, Jungkook's 'Seven', released in July, and '3D', released in September, had also topped both the 'Global 200' and 'Global (excluding the US)' charts. With 'Standing Next to You' joining them, Jungkook has now placed three solo songs at the pinnacle of these two charts within a single year - a first for any solo artist worldwide. This achievement marks a new chapter in Billboard's history.
Jungkook has also set a significant record as the third artist in the history of the 'Global 200' chart to have the most number one hits.
Moreover, every track from the 'GOLDEN' album has charted on the 'Global 200' and 'Global (excluding the US)' charts, including 'Yes or No' (23rd, 19th), 'Hate You' (31st, 23rd), 'Please Don't Change' (46th, 32nd), 'Shot Glass of Tears' (51st, 51st), 'Closer to You' (52nd, 37th), 'Somebody' (57th, 40th), and 'Too Sad to Dance' (58th, 38th). This marks another first for an Asian artist.
'Standing Next to You' also debuted at number 5 on Billboard's main singles chart 'Hot 100' (dated November 18). Along with 'Standing Next to You', Jungkook has simultaneously charted four songs on the 'Hot 100', including 'Seven' at 49th, '3D' at 58th, and the collaborative track 'Too Much' at 94th. Previously, he achieved first place with 'Seven', fifth with '3D', becoming the first and only K-pop solo artist to consecutively place three songs within the top 5 of 'Hot 100'.
Overall, Jungkook has charted a total of six songs on the 'Hot 100', including last year's webtoon OST 'Stay Alive' at 95th, the collaboration 'Left and Right' at 22nd, and 'Too Much' at 44th, setting a new record for the most entries by a K-pop solo artist.
'GOLDEN' debuted at number 2 on Billboard's main album chart 'Billboard 200' with approximately 212,000 units sold and 41.59 million streams in its first week. Jungkook recorded the highest-ever sales for a K-pop solo artist in the US during its debut week. He is also the first K-pop solo artist to achieve over 200,000 sales in the first week of release in the US, establishing another major milestone.
