BTS's Jungkook has been nominated in four categories at the 21st Korean Music Awards (KMA), showcasing his significant presence in the music industry. In the recently announced nominations list for the 21st Korean Music Awards, Jungkook is up for 'Musician of the Year' and for his solo single 'Seven' in 'Song of the Year', his first solo album 'Golden' in 'Best K-Pop Album', and again 'Seven' in 'Best K-Pop Song'.
The Korean Music Awards evaluates both the popularity and musicality of domestic pop music, presenting awards across three fields in a total of 26 categories. The 21st Korean Music Awards ceremony will be broadcast live on February 29 via the retail media platform PRIZM.
Jungkook released 'Seven' in July last year, topping domestic and international charts, including Melon's Top 100 in Korea, Spotify's Daily and Weekly Top Song Global charts, and Billboard's Hot 100 in the US, confirming his status as a global pop star and a leading figure in music worldwide. On Spotify, 'Seven' achieved 1 billion streams in the shortest time worldwide (108 days).
'Golden' debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, staying on the chart for 11 consecutive weeks, and reached No. 3 on the UK Official Charts' Top 100 Albums, staying there for a total of 8 weeks, setting a new record for the longest charting K-Pop solo album in these two major charts. Moreover, it was the top-selling K-Pop solo album in the US for 2023 and led in CD sales among all male solo artists worldwide for the same year.
'Seven' won the 'Song of Summer' category at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards (MTV VMA), 'Top Global K-Pop Song' at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs), and 'Best Song' at the 2023 MTV Europe Music Awards (MTV EMA).
Additionally, 'Seven' was included in Billboard and UK Official Chart's 'The 100 Best Songs of 2023: Staff Picks', and 'The best songs and albums of 2023: Official Charts staff picks', as well as Rolling Stone's 'The 100 Best Songs of 2023'. 'Golden' was featured in Rolling Stone's 'Best Music of 2023: Staff Picks', MTV's 'RECORD-BREAKING ALBUMS OF 2023', The New York Times' 'Best Albums of 2023', and Uproxx's 'The Best Albums Of 2023'.
Jungkook was the only Korean male singer to be listed in Rolling Stone's '200 Greatest Singers of All Time' and was also recognized as one of 'Billboard's Greatest Pop Stars of 2023'.
