Candelario, a 32-year-old mother from Ohio, has pleaded guilty to the aggravated murder and endangering of her 16-month-old daughter, Jailyn. The tragic incident unfolded when Candelario left her toddler unattended at home to embark on a 10-day vacation to Puerto Rico, resulting in the young child's death from starvation and severe dehydration.
The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office confirmed that Candelario faced charges of aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault, and endangering children following her indictment in June 2023. Opting for a plea deal, Candelario admitted to one count of aggravated murder and one count of endangering children, with additional charges being dropped in exchange for her guilty plea.
The harrowing details of the case reveal that Candelario departed for her vacation on June 6, leaving her daughter alone in their home near Lorain Avenue and West 97th Street. Upon her return on June 16, she discovered Jailyn unresponsive and immediately contacted the police.
