Former President Donald Trump and his wife Melania Trump made a rare public appearance together on Saturday, March 30, as they attended the lavish 40th birthday celebration of Alina Habba, a prominent figure in Trump's legal team. The star-studded event, held at Trump's Palm Beach private club, Mar-a-Lago, came amidst the former president's struggle to post bond for his New York civil fraud fine.
The glamorous party, organized by Rackel Gehlsen, was attended by several high-profile guests, including Eric and Lara Trump, as well as Don Jr. and Kimberly Guilfoyle. The celebration took place both indoors and outdoors at the club's Lakeview Terrace and inside a gold and white ballroom, with guests enjoying the music of a Beatles cover band and DJ Ross spinning tunes throughout the night.
One of the highlights of the evening was the elaborate birthday cake, which depicted Habba sitting atop a courthouse, surrounded by symbols of justice, including scales and law books, as well as luxurious items like a Birkin bag and a briefcase. The menu featured delectable dishes such as tuna tartare, eggplant parmigiana, and Wagyu ribeye.
Habba, known for representing Trump in civil cases, had previously marked her birthday with a smaller gathering in St. Barts before returning to Florida. Her legal prowess was recently highlighted when a state appeals court ruled that Trump could post a reduced bond of $175 million in a civil fraud case.
The event coincided with a busy week for Trump, who had paid his respects to a slain NYPD officer earlier in the week and saw a significant increase in shares of his media company, Trump Media & Technology Group.
Despite the celebratory atmosphere, rumors have swirled about the state of the Trump's marriage, with Melania and Donald rarely making public appearances together. After the 53-year-old's appearance on the campaign trail with the 77-year-old, people took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to speculate about their relationship.
"Paid smile. Feel so sorry for Melania to have to put up with Donald," one person claimed, while another added, "She does her once a month contractual obligation and then bolts .. guess she knows now that she ain't getting a big inheritance from him now. That's called KARMA @MELANIATRUMP. And I'm loving it for u."
Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, a former friend of Melania's, offered her perspective on why the former first lady stays out of the spotlight, particularly after she was absent from Trump's Super Tuesday victory speech. "Melania Trump was NOT at Donald's victory party because she did NOT have to be. His supporters do NOT care if she is by his side or NOT, so now she does NOT have to be. NOThing more, NOThing less," she wrote on March 7.
Despite the speculation surrounding their relationship, Melania has reportedly vowed to "step up her public appearances ahead of the 2024 election in November," recently telling press to "stay tuned" when asked if she'd be joining Donald on the campaign trail.
As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Habba has slammed "people who get excited" about her client's ongoing legal woes. During a recent appearance on Fox News' Jesse Watters Primetime, Habba lashed out at New York Attorney General Letitia James and others following Trump's meltdown over the impending Stormy Daniels hush money case trial and his struggle to post a reduced $175 million bond while seeking to appeal his $460 million fraud judgment.
"People that go on TV censor Donald Trump, shut him off when he's speaking, want to act like he's about to go broke, want to act like he's poor. And that's why he couldn't get a bond that no private company has ever been asked to get with no cash equivalents other than cash, marketable securities," Habba continued. "People that get excited for that, they don't have a conscience."
