However, her silence on the controversy involving a fan, referred to as "A," who was wrongfully accused of illicit ticket sales and permanently banned from IU's fan club, raises questions about her commitment to her fanbase.
The issue came to light on February 22, coincidentally the same day IU invited an elderly American gentleman, who posted a YouTube video inquiring about joining her fan club, to her concert in the US.
"A" shared a detailed post on their personal blog titled "IU Concert Explanation Request (Why Exactly?)" outlining the ordeal they faced. "A" successfully purchased pre-sale tickets for IU's 2024 'H.E.R.' world tour concert but was later accused of illegal transactions due to a friend making the payment on their behalf. Despite providing extensive personal information for clarification, "A" was not only denied entry on the day of the concert but also faced a permanent ban from the official fan club.
IU's agency, EDAM Entertainment, apologized for the incident but posted the apology on the official fan cafe, which "A" could no longer access due to the ban. The agency expressed a commitment to resolve the issue amicably but did not lift the ban or refund "A's" ticket, leaving a lasting scar.
This incident, alongside IU's past actions of gifting tickets to celebrities and playing roles that involve ticket scalping in her content, has sparked criticism towards her and her agency's fan management practices.
