In the wake of the assassination attempt on Donald Trump that took place over the weekend, Democratic politicians, strategists, and activists are attempting to improve President Joe Biden's chances of earning a second term in office. They describe the atmosphere as "grim."

A new report suggested that Democrats are attempting to revitalize the image of the commander-in-chief, which has been steadily deteriorating ever since the presidential debate on June 27. They are concerned that the assassination attempt enhanced Trump's prospects of winning on November 5.

An outlet conducted interviews with a number of individuals who were working behind the scenes and expressed their fear about the possibility of Biden losing to a candidate who the Democratic presidential campaign has portrayed as a danger to democratic principles.

Things had already reached a point where they were unacceptable, what with the president's poor performance in the debate, the issues that surrounded his cognitive ability, and the calls for him to step down. The assassination attempt on Trump, which has energized his party and followers, then took things to an even higher level of unpredictability, RadarOnline reported.

Additionally, on Monday, the case against the former president that was brought against him for illegal documents was dropped by Judge Aileen Cannon of Florida.

“The vibe is grim. I haven’t talked to a single Democrat who is like, ‘Things are fine.’ It’s universal,” Matt Bennett, the co-founder of Third Way, a Democratic think tank, told The New York Times.

However, there are still Democrats who are supporting Biden in this election. “I hope every donor, every supporter, everybody who has seen Joe Biden fight the last two and a half weeks understands and appreciates that we have put so much on his strong, steel shoulders. If he is not going to buckle under the weight of what has happened over the last two and a half weeks, I don’t know why anyone else should,” former Chair of the Democratic National Committee Donna Brazile told the outlet.

Despite the fact that Biden will continue to emphasize his message of unity and demonstrate that he is capable of uniting the country in a manner that Trump is unable to, this has not alleviated the concerns of a significant number of individuals within the Democratic party.

A moderate member of the House of Representatives stated that the iconic image of Trump holding his fist high and bloodied after the attack was an "unflattering contrast" to Biden, whose mental and physical condition has been under the microscope for the past few weeks.

Although there had been a more concentrated push to try and replace Biden less than four months before the presidential election, numerous Democratic politicians and strategists stated that this had been put on the back burner after the attempt on Trump's life. This was due to the fact that the situation had become more complicated.

“If this all goes the way it looks like it will, the dividing line in Democratic politics moving forward is going to be, ‘Did you have the sense and courage to try to push for change while we had a chance?’” Aaron Regenberg, an organizer with Pass the Torch, which is pushing for a new Democratic presidential nominee to replace Biden, stated.

During the Democratic National Convention, which will take place in August, the Democratic Party will make the official announcement of their candidate for president.
