Speaking at a rally in Georgia on Tuesday, September 24, Donald Trump professed his admiration for the immigration chart, which he asserts "saved his life."
"I have a chart that's my all-time favorite! I love tha— is it around? .... is it around?" Trump said. The question slipped his lips as he pivoted and meandered towards the rear of the stage, only to halt and give the impression of embracing the air.
Upon his return to the podium, he proceeded to say, "I love it! I sleep with that chart every night. I kiss it. I love it, because that chart saved my life."
During a rally in Pennsylvania on July 13, Trump looked down at some immigration statistics and then turned around to face the shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, a young man of twenty-one years old, CNN reported.
"If I didn’t look to the right, I wouldn’t be here with you today, I guarantee you that," he addressed his followers. "My two [adult] sons are great shooters, and they said, ‘Dad, from 130 yards, a bad shooter couldn’t miss with that gun,'" the ex-POTUS went on.
Shortly after Crooks opened fire on the audience, the Secret Service shot and killed him.
The former president addressed the second claimed attempt on his life that happened on September 15 as he was playing golf at his West Palm Beach course during the event.
"This guy [the agent] was no games, and he was walking down the middle of that fairway, and he’s looking over and what does he see? He sees a rifle, just a small part of a very big weapon, and you see the barrel coming out of very heavy shrubbery. I’m telling you, that’s — God was watching there too, because you needed somebody really sharp," he said.
A subsequent Trump statement attributed his assassination to the fact that assassins "go after consequential presidents."
"We are consequential. We’re going to be even more consequential because we’re going to do things that nobody has ever been able to do in this country," Trump concluded.
The second would-be assassin who targeted Trump, Ryan Wesley Routh, was apprehended on September 15, as previously reported by OK! Magazine. Possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number and possession of a firearm while a convicted felon were the charges against him.
The date set for his arraignment is September 30.
