At his daughter's wedding, Corinne, which took place on September 22, Jamie Foxx shed tears as he carried her down the aisle. After the ceremony, he and Corinne performed a tender father-daughter dance together.
"They were definitely tears of joy. As far as Jamie is concerned, this was a miracle wedding," a source told InTouch Weekly. "He knows the odds were stacked against him — just over a year ago, he was fighting for his life."
Corinne, who was 30 years old at the time, announced in April 2023 that her father had experienced a medical emergency. Jamie later disclosed that the emergency began with a "bad headache." At that moment, he recalled, snapping his fingers, that he had asked for an Advil.
"I was gone for 20 days. I don't remember anything."
The actor was transferred to a rehabilitation center in Chicago that specializes in treating patients who have suffered from traumatic brain injuries and strokes.
"It's crazy. Six months ago I couldn't actually walk," the Oscar winner told the audience at an awards show in December. "I've been through something. I have a new respect for life."
That's one of the reasons he couldn't "control his emotions at the wedding," the source says. "Obviously he was thrilled for Corinne, and just so full of gratitude that he could be there to give her away. He truly cheated death and friends say he's a changed man."
Jamie is returning to Atlanta, where he will perform a one-man show that touches on the recent health concern three nights in a row, as per Variety.
The actor, singer, and comedian will reportedly hit the stage for a live recording of his upcoming comedy special, "What Had Happened Was: An Evening with Jamie Foxx." This information comes from the radio station V-103 in Atlanta. The exclusive performances are scheduled for October 3rd through the 5th at the Alliance Theatre's Coca-Cola Stage.
"Atlanta saved my life. 'Cause I was here when it (his health scare) happened," Jamie stated in a video uploaded to Instagram on August 18th. "Atlanta saved me. If I had been anywhere else..."
He posted that there is an "unforgettable" show that audiences may anticipate as Jamie opens up about his "struggles, triumphs, and everything in between. "
There is no indication that the show is open to the general public; nevertheless, it is reported to be broadcast on television later, as stated by V103. In the previous month, Netflix announced that Jamie would appear in a special on the streaming site, which was scheduled to debut later this year.
