In an interview that was published just two days before Liam Payne's tragic death at the age of 31, his former girlfriend, Maya Henry, disclosed distressing information regarding the One Direction singer.
“I always felt it was a manipulation tactic… I always felt like it was so I’d continue to feel bad for him,” Henry stated on the podcast "The Internet Is Dead." “He would always message me ever since we broke up, like ‘Oh, I’m not well.’ He would always play with death and be like, ‘Well, I’m gonna die. I’m not doing well.’”
She continued, “There was one time I was trying to get him help, and he was not taking it. He would text my mom, ‘I’m not doing well, have Maya contact me.’ because I wouldn’t respond. And it’s just always the same cycle.”
Henry asserted that the pop icon maintained communication with her and her family before the publication of her book in 2024.
For instance, upon the announcement of Henry's book, Liam reciprocated by contacting her mother, stating, "I believe my time is limited." She does not trivialize matters of mortality; thus, if such a statement is made, Henry is compelled to offer assistance regardless of past transgressions, which she believes he exploited to her family's detriment.
Consequently, Henry expressed, "If you wish to return to rehabilitation, I will assist you." This was not out of a desire to rekindle their relationship but because he remains someone's child and brother. Henry said she would hope for similar support if he were her sibling. Regarding recent developments, she was unable to comment legally. She added that the situation has deteriorated significantly, yet she has consistently felt profound remorse.
The situation was made much more difficult because Payne allegedly had problems with his ex-boyfriend Henry, to whom he was engaged at the time.
Henry, 23, allegedly issued a cease-and-desist order to Payne last week after she continued to attempt to contact her, according to a source who spoke to PEOPLE Magazine. The insider continued that Payne was "extremely overwhelmed by all of the legal issues. "
On Wednesday, October 16, the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, was the location where Payne passed away after falling from numerous levels, as per AP News. The Federal Police of Argentina confirmed this information to the entertainment news outlet.
Former One Direction members Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and Zayn Malik have yet to make a statement about Liam Payne's shocking demise.
