Melania Trump issued a forceful public denial of any connection to Jeffrey Epstein, delivering a rare and pointed statement at the White House that sought to rebut years of online speculation and reassert her distance from one of the most politically charged scandals in recent U.S. history.
Speaking directly to reporters, the first lady dismissed circulating claims as fabrications and attempted to draw a clear line between herself and Epstein's criminal network. "I am not Epstein's victim," she said. "Epstein did not introduce me to Donald Trump."
Her remarks came as renewed attention has periodically resurfaced around Epstein's associates and the broader network of individuals connected to the disgraced financier, whose case continues to reverberate across political and social spheres.
Melania Trump went further, emphasizing that she had no knowledge of Epstein's conduct. "I have never had any knowledge of Epstein's abuse of his victims," she said. "I was never involved in any capacity. I was not a participant."
She also addressed the timeline of her limited interactions with Epstein, stating that their first encounter occurred in 2000 at a public event. "At the time, I had never met Epstein and had no knowledge of his criminal undertakings," she said.
The first lady framed the controversy as a product of misinformation amplified through digital platforms. "Fake images and statements about Epstein and me have been circulating on social media for years now," she said. "Be cautious about what you believe: These images and stories are completely false."
In her statement, Melania Trump also underscored that her name does not appear in official investigative materials. "I'm not a witness or a named witness in connection with any of Epstein's crimes," she said. "My name has never appeared in court documents .. victim statements or FBI interviews surrounding the Epstein matter."
Her comments extended beyond denial to include a broader critique of those promoting the allegations. "The lies linking me with the disgraceful Jeffrey Epstein need to end today. The individuals lying about me are devoid of ethical standards, humility and respect. I do not object to their ignorance, but rather I reject their mean-spirited attempts to defame my reputation," she said.
The first lady added that she and her legal team have actively challenged such claims. "My attorneys and I have fought these unfounded and baseless lies with success," she said.
Despite the defensive tone, Melania Trump sought to shift attention toward victims of Epstein's crimes, calling for congressional action. "Each and every woman should have her day to tell her story in public if she wishes," she said. "Then, and only then, we will have the truth."
She acknowledged limited social overlap with Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell, noting that interactions were incidental rather than substantive. Referring to an email exchange with Maxwell, she described it as "casual correspondence," adding, "My polite reply to her email doesn't amount to anything more than a trifle."
