Saturday Night Live turned Kash Patel into the center of its latest political satire weekend, mocking both his reported leadership controversies and his 18-year age gap with girlfriend Alexis Wilkins during a cold open that quickly spread across social media.

The 9 May episode, hosted by Matt Damon with musical guest Noah Kahan, staged a fictional Washington bar scene featuring Damon reprising his role as Brett Kavanaugh, while Colin Jost portrayed Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. Aziz Ansari entered later as Patel, delivering a performance that leaned heavily into internet criticism surrounding the FBI director's personal life and management style.

The sketch opened with Damon's Kavanaugh and Jost's Hegseth lamenting political stress, drinking habits and what the characters jokingly described as "the war against male loneliness." The scene shifted when Ansari burst in portraying Patel with exaggerated facial expressions and carrying a personalized bourbon bottle.

"I made my own FBI bourbon with my name on it. Yes. Somehow, this is a real thing. That I, the real FBI director, has made," Ansari's Patel declared, referencing recent media scrutiny over reports involving custom-branded liquor bottles allegedly distributed by the FBI director.

The skit repeatedly returned to Patel's relationship with Wilkins, who is 18 years younger than him. Ansari's character joked, "My girlfriend wants to open up our relationship," before escalating the gag with: "She said she wants to bring other dudes in the bedroom and for me to stay in the living room."

The most pointed line arrived later in the segment when Ansari's Patel explained why he carried his own alcohol into bars.

"I bring my own alcohol to bars because sometime they think I'm a kid with the fake ID," he said. "They say no adult would make this face an official photo."

The joke immediately became one of the night's most circulated clips online, with viewers sharply divided over whether the segment landed as effective political satire or veered into overly personal ridicule.

One X user wrote that the skit was "diabolical," while another called Damon, Jost and Ansari "The unholy Trinity." Critics of the show were equally vocal. "Man, SNL is excruciatingly bad now," one viewer posted, while another complained the program suffered from "Hegseth and Kavanaugh derangement syndrome."

The sketch arrived amid a difficult media stretch for Patel, who has recently faced reports questioning his leadership at the FBI, including allegations involving internal polygraph investigations and criticism from former bureau officials. The bourbon joke also echoed recent reporting claiming Patel distributed personalized bottles engraved with FBI branding.

Outside the comedy world, scrutiny around Patel's relationship with Wilkins has intensified online over recent months. The couple reportedly began dating in 2023 after meeting at a conservative ReAwaken America event the previous year.

Wilkins publicly defended the relationship during an appearance on The Megyn Kelly Show, saying Patel attracted her because he was "so honest." She added: "We both are very patriotic, so obviously there are things there that we definitely agree on."

Patel himself has previously pushed back forcefully against commentary involving Wilkins. In December, he wrote on X: "I've always said - criticize me all you want. But going after the people doing great work, my personal life, or those around me is a total disgrace."

He later added: "The disgustingly baseless attacks against Alexis - a true patriot and the woman I'm proud to call my partner in life - are beyond pathetic."
