Manchester United picking up 17 consecutive wins since January would make it appear that things are looking up for the club. But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains convinced his side can still use talents like Jadon Sancho to make for a lethal goalscoring capability.
Solskjaer has indicated that boosting United's strikeforce is crucial for the club to start winning games and titles. And it remains so even as the Red Devils are on a winning run. For the club boss, it never hurts to enjoy a wide option, especially in the scoring department.
According to Metro, the Norwegian came to this realization following the defeat suffered at the hands of Manchester City at the start of the year. United bowed 1-3 during the match, and Solskjaer saw that his squad is lacking in scoring prowess.
That is why the coach is on a mission to sign talented and young scorers such as Jack Grealish and Sancho.
The Borussia Dortmund ace, in particular, is described by journalist Andy Mitten as "a great addition" to the Red Devils roster. The 20-year-old already boasts of consistency that is yet to be seen with Mason Greenwood, according to Mitten.
The journalist said Greenwood is no doubt talented, but the youngster is not seen to peak four to six years from now. So getting a prolific scorer like Sancho to Old Trafford will be a good move on Solskjaer's part, Mitten said.
For his part, the United manager said he is studying the planned Sancho signing carefully, and in doing so, thoughts from people that matter is welcome. Solskjaer said that to get a better picture of how the Bundesliga striker will fit his side, he consulted Marcus Rashford, per the report from Mirror.
Rashford and Sancho are England teammates, and the team manager figured that the former could offer helpful insights on the Dortmund star.
Solskjaer recounted that before signing Bruno Fernandes, he consulted Cristiano Ronaldo on the matter as the two players collaborated for Portugal. Ronaldo it seemed has only good words for Fernandes, so the coach brought in the former Sporting Lisbon star.
As it turned out, the 25-year-old proved a sensation for Solskjaer's side, and the team has yet to lose since the Portuguese joined in.
Meanwhile, former Chelsea man Craig Burley has been impressed by United's amazing run in the past months, and despite the draw match with Southampton on Monday, the ex-midfielder said the Red Devils are still on course to qualify for the Champions League.
Three more games for the United, and if Solskjaer's side can pick the last nine points that potentially await, then the team stands to give a good fight for the third or fourth spot and dislodge any of Chelsea or Leicester.
