Prince Harry, reportedly, didn't wake up when the U.S. Embassy called repeatedly at 3:00 a.m. on April 9 to inform him and Meghan Markle of the death of Prince Philip. Thus, cops had to turn up at the home of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in Montecito, California.

According to TMZ, the staff at the embassy called the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Department to have someone go to the pair's mansion and inform them of the urgent call. Upon arrival at the estate, the deputy spoke with Prince Harry and Markle's staff who then woke up the duke to relay that he had to call back the embassy.

The report cited it's unclear why the Duke and Duchess of Sussex did not pick up the phone. It's alleged that the couple turned off the ringer.

Philip died in his sleep at the age of 99 at Windsor Castle after a previous heart surgery and a month-long stay in the hospital. According to the Countess of Wessex, the Duke of Edinburgh passed away peacefully, as if "someone took him by the hand."

Meanwhile, Harry made his way back to London to attend his grandfather's funeral. On his new mental health series, The Me You Can't See, the duke said that he was both worried and afraid about returning home after a year of being away. He said that London is a trigger for his mental health woes.

Harry has been at odds with this own family after he quit his royal roles in March 2020 with his wife Meghan Markle. Since then, his rift with his brother, Prince William, and father, Prince Charles, has been widely reported, especially after Harry confirmed in an interview with Oprah Winfrey that he is disappointed by his father as he cut him off financially.

The Duke of Sussex further revealed in a podcast interview that he never wanted to be a working royal and he felt that his royal life was a lot similar to being in a zoo. Harry also implied that his mental health struggles are a result of generational issues that his father has also suffered from Harry's grandparents, Queen Elizabeth and Philip.

Despite the rift, Harry could still end up receiving an inheritance from his grandfather's estate. Philip had over $42 million in personal wealth, which will go to Queen Elizabeth, three loyal staff members and his grandchildren. According to sources, Philips does not hold a grudge against his grandson and hadn't thought of on "punishing" him.
