A much simpler, more robust, and memory friendly Motorola E5 version is coming to Europe and Latin America this July. Meanwhile, it is yet to be seen if the US tech market receives the same love.
Motorola recently announced the latest iteration of its brand new E5 phone which will run on Android Oreo Go.
This means the device will include fewer pre-installed apps coming out of the box. The apps, meanwhile, are optimized to run smoothly on the device, without hogging too much phone storage. Still, users will get to appreciate the built-in data saver which is a boon for those who doesn't want to pay huge bills on data.
What is Android Oreo Go?
Android Go is basically a stripped-down version of the Android operating system (OS). Its bareback format allows entry-level smartphones to utilize most of the vital functions of the OS. However, it focuses more on providing seamless user-experience in three key areas namely, the OS itself, the Google Play Store, and Google apps (like the Google Gboard.)
Motorola E5 Android Go Phone VS The E5 Play
It's only in April when the Japanese tech company announced the Moto E5 Play and E5 Plus. The E5 Plus, in particular, sports decent specs including a Snapdragon 435 processor with 3GB RAM and 32GB of mass storage. Despite the single, 12MP camera, the E5 gets the attention in the base phone market with its huge 5,000mAh battery.
The Android Go Motorola, on the other hand, keeps it simple with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. Everything else is copied up to a tee. It has the same camera specs plus it retains the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner hiding in the ubiquitous Motorola "M" logo.
Motorola E5 Android Go phone is expected to launch in Europe and Latin America with a $127 (USD) price tag. Unfortunately, the US tech consumers won't get to share the excitement as it is indicated in Motorola's press release that the handset will roll out exclusively on the said regions.
