The King of Atlantis finally gets his time to shine in the first trailer for the Jason Momoa-led superhero film, "Aquaman."

The two-minute (plus) long sneak peek debuted during the Warner Bros. panel at San Diego Comic-Con this week.

Fresh from his appearance in DCEU's "Justice League," Momoa's water-breathing alter-ego has finally made a splash with its upcoming solo movie slated to hit the theaters at the end of this year.

Throughout the trailer, it can't be helped but to notice the stark differences teased in the movie as compared to Zack Snyder's dark-themed titles like "Batman VS. Superman" as well as the "Man of Steel" movie series.

In "Aquaman," the aesthetic treatment is way easier, if not appealing to the eyes and the senses. This is evident, for example, in the use of bright colors. DC fans should be familiar with this as it is already used in Gal Gadot's beloved standalone film, "Wonder Woman."

In the trailer, the movie finally established Aquaman's origin. His human alter-ego is Arthur Curry and is the son of a lighthouse keeper, Tom Curry, and Queen Atlanna, the queen of Atlanta at that time.

From his initial abilities to talk with fish, which DC comic fans often poke fun with, it appears that in the movie, Arthur can telepathically communicate with any sea creatures. This will then be manifested with his eyes turning yellow.

There are scenes in the trailer showing Arthur having an altercation with the crew inside a submarine. It remains to be seen what transpires on that incident, but it's quite clear that the gun-toting people are up for something bad, which our hero doesn't like.

Amber Heard is also featured in the film as Mera and according to reports, she is yet to become Aquaman's wife in the film.

Mera's origins seem to vary from one comic edition to another. But in "Aquaman," she would be a former queen. Her powers include hydrokinesis, which means she too can control movements of water.

Patrick Wilson is also joining the fold playing as Orm Marius. He is Aquaman's half-brother and a claimant to the throne.

The clip greatly hints of a battle for the throne between Orm and Aquaman which will be a public spectacle.

Several fan sites are making notes of the weapons Aquaman use in the movie. In the classic iteration, he appears with the trident, but it looks like he'll be wielding a pentadent instead, like in "Justice League."

"Aquaman," directed by James Wan ("Fast and Furious" 7), opens December 21, 2018.
