It is now confirmed that "Jane the Virgin" Season 5 would be the final leg of Jane Villanueva's (Gina Rodriguez) journey to find her true love and pursue her career. The show's executive producer, Brad Silberling, as well as its 34-year-old lead star, talked about the series finale to make fans more excited. They, too, teased what viewers could expect from the series' return.
"Jane the Virgin" Season 5's production has begun. Now that the cameras are rolling, where would the show take its large fanbase? Rodriguez confirmed that the series is heading towards its end in the next season, per Otakukart.
She even revealed that she would be involved in directing some episodes of "Jane the Virgin" Season 5. After the "Annihilation" star directed the previous installment's special episode, she is now more excited to perform some directorial stints for the new season. In fact, she unconsciously slipped the words "in our final season" when she talked about the upcoming new installment.
Silberling, on the other hand, also confirmed that "Jane the Virgin" Season 5 would be the final stretch of Jane's story. He said, in an interview for his new movie titled "An Ordinary Man," that the show's cast and crew are about to bid their final goodbye when they return to the small screen.
"Yes, we are heading into the final season. It is a wonderful final season of the show," he told Metro. Silverling also teased that "Jane the Virgin" Season 5's finale would be "bittersweet but perfect." He even added that the show's ending is something that they have planned since the series began.
Additionally, it was also reported that "Jane the Virgin" is expected to have a total of 100 episodes. As the show already completed 81 episodes since it first aired in October 2014, "Jane the Virgin" Season 5 might feature 19 episodes. To recall, its first and second season both had 22 episodes while the third and fourth ones had 20 and 17 episodes, respectively. So it looks like it is not far that the new season would have 19 episodes.
