"Wentworth" Season 6 still has a few episodes to go, but fans are now excited about its upcoming Season 7 and release on Netflix. As the show can just be seen on Showcase in the U.S., Foxtel in Australia, and 5star in the U.K., other viewers have been waiting for the show to come to the streaming giant.
"Wentworth" Season 6 still has five episodes left; "Lover and Fighters," "Indelible Ink," and three other to-be-announced titles. These five episodes will air from August 7 until September 4.
According to Otakukart, "Wentworth" Season 6 can only be watched on Netflix in some places in the U.S. and Canada. The show has had some troubles to air its new episodes on time. Unfortunately, this problem persists until now; thus, fans look forward to its release on the streaming service.
As "Wentworth" Season 6 started in June and about to end in the first week of September, there are assumptions that it would be out on Netflix in the U.S. after its conclusion. However, the series might be released a couple of months later in Canada. So, in two months time, fans will finally see it on the streaming giant.
Meanwhile, "Wentworth" has been renewed for Season 7. However, after the "Wentworth" Season 7, the show's future remains to be seen.
Foxtel admitted that it still has no plans for "Wentworth" Season 8 yet. "Discussions between Foxtel and Fremantle Media regarding future seasons of 'Wentworth' continue," the network spokesperson said, per The New Daily. The statement ignited the rumors that "Wentworth" Season 7 might be the show's final installment.
"Wentworth" Season 7's production ended on July 27. It was filmed back-to-back with "Wentworth" Season 6. It would be then screened in 2019. After that, the source disclosed that he had no idea what would happen to the series.
"It's gossip at this stage," the insider revealed.
It also added that it is still in the dark about the future of the show after "Wentworth" Season 7. This is because everything would be cleared after the "talks and negotiations between Foxtel and Fremantle" are revealed.
Also, in an interview with the show's star Sigrid Thornton, who plays the role of Sonia Stevens, on "Studio 10," she said that her "lips are sealed" about "Wentworth" possible conclusion.
"I can't tell you how sworn to secrecy 'Wentworth' cast members are," she added. Thornton also explained that the series' fans would surely "sniff a rumor" even before the rumor happens, so they have to be very careful with that.
