It is official. "13 Reasons Why" has been renewed for a third season, but viewers will no longer see Hannah Baker (Katherine Langford) around.
In an interview, series writer Brian Yorkey revealed that Hannah Baker would no longer haunt Clay Jensen (Dylan Minnette) once "13 Reasons Why" returns for a third season. However, her presence and impact on her fellow Liberty High students will keep on playing a pivotal role.
"The loss of Hannah will continue to be the inciting traumatic event for this group of kids and parents. It will always be part of the story," Brian Yorkey told Entertainment Weekly. "But I don't see a tremendous continued presence for Hannah because I think we needed her to finish telling everyone else's side of her story and we needed her so that Clay could get to the point of saying, 'I love you, and I let you go,'" he added.
Katherine Langford has also said her goodbye to "13 Reasons Why" and her character. She said that the Netflix teen drama series will always be important to her and shared her plan to maintain her connection with the fans through social media.
Not much has been said about the storyline, but rumor has it that "13 Reasons Why" season 3 will focus on the aftermath of Tyler Down's (Devid Druid) assault. As fans will recall, the teen drama's second season ended with the said character brutally beaten and sexually assaulted by Montgomery "Monty" de la Cruz (Timothy Granaderos) and two of his friends.
Enraged, Tyler Down headed to the school's Spring Fling dance with a massive rifle to get revenge for what happened to him. Suddenly, Clay Jensen showed up and persuaded him to abort his plan.
Meanwhile, "13 Reasons Why" will kick off the filming of its third season in the North Bay Area on Aug. 12, Sunday and is expected to wrap up on Feb. 6, 2019. According to a Facebook post, the production held extra casting call over the weekend, noting that the filming would take place around the Vallejo, Sebastopol and San Rafael areas.
"13 Reasons Why," which will see the return of Justin Prentice as Bryce Walker, Alisha Boe as Jessica Davis, Brandon Flynn as Justin Foley, Samantha Logan as Nina Jones, and Anne Winters as Chlöe Rice," is expected to air sometime in 2019.
