A reported film about Queen Elizabeth II's former aide Angela Kelly has revived speculation about her clash with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle before their 2018 wedding, with a royal commentator suggesting an undisclosed incident could become part of the drama.

Mail on Sunday editor at large Charlotte Griffiths claimed the Sussexes would not want that episode portrayed. Neither the alleged incident nor its possible inclusion has been substantiated, and the reported project's storyline remains unknown.

"The stuff Angela saw during Tiaragate. Apparently, there's another incident from around that time that they are praying does not come out in this drama," Griffiths said in comments reported by the Daily Mail.

Her description of Harry and Meghan's supposed concern was speculation, rather than a statement from the couple or their representatives. She offered no details identifying the additional incident or explaining what Kelly allegedly witnessed.

The film, tentatively titled Trouble, is reportedly being developed by Searchlight Pictures, with Casualty co-creator Jeremy Brock working on the screenplay. Reports describe its subject as Kelly's close relationship with the late Queen, but do not establish whether the former aide is formally participating.

That leaves a distinction between a film about Kelly and a production made with her cooperation. The available accounts provide no confirmed script, production timetable or indication that filmmakers intend to revisit the Sussexes' wedding preparations.

Interest in that possibility stems from the dispute widely labeled "Tiaragate." In his 2023 memoir, Spare, Harry described difficulty obtaining access to a tiara for Meghan's hair trial and blamed Kelly for delays during the preparations.

Meghan ultimately wore Queen Mary's Diamond Bandeau at their May 2018 wedding. Although accounts have framed the disagreement differently, Harry's version focused on access to the jewelry before the ceremony, rather than simply a dispute over which tiara Meghan would wear.

The episode has also appeared in royal biographies, including Our King: Charles III: The Man and the Monarch Revealed. A screen portrayal could therefore revisit a disagreement already described publicly, even if it contained no new disclosure.

Royal commentator Richard Eden called Kelly "a fascinating figure" and referred to her reported nickname, "AK-47." He said she had experienced "some really lively rows with Harry and Meghan" and characterized Harry's treatment of her in Spare as "particularly unpleasant."

Eden also cited talk that the project could deliver "a very accurate portrayal," although the basis for that assessment was not established. Without confirmation of the film's sources or Kelly's involvement, those remarks do not demonstrate whose account would guide the production.

The Royal Observer likewise linked the reported project to tensions surrounding the wedding, while Griffiths suggested the Sussexes should be "quaking in their boots." Beyond those predictions, no further details have emerged in the cited reports about the alleged additional incident, the scenes being considered or the project's release plans.
