Another day, another "Captain Marvel" spoilers. This time around, rumor has it that Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) will play a pivotal role in the upcoming American superhero film.
The speculation started when the mid-credits scene of "Ant-Man and the Wasp" hints at a major connection to the upcoming "Captain Marvel." In it, Hope Van Dyne / Wasp (Evangeline Lilly), Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) send Scott Lang/Ant-Man into the quantum realm to harvest enough energy that will further help Ava Starr / Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen).
While he is doing this, Hope Van Dyne, Janet van Dyne and Hank Pym suddenly disintegrate as a result of Thanos' (Josh Brolin) finger snap in the events of "Avengers: Infinity War." Scott Lang was last seen drifting in the quantum realm.
That being said, it is strongly speculated that Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) will be the one to spare him from being trapped inside the quantum realm. Another possibility is that Ant-Man would go back to the 1990s through the time vortex, paving the way for Captain Marvel's arrival and sudden disappearance.
It is also believed that Ant-Man has an idea that could help Captain Marvel to stop Thanos and return to normal. The two will, then, travel through time to next year's untitled "Avengers 4" film.
"Captain Marvel" is set in the 1990s and the story will heavily revolve around Carol Danvers, a U.S. Air Force pilot whose DNA is fused with that of an outsider amid an intergalactic conflict. In-depth details about the plot are currently being kept under wraps.
"You already know as much as you need to," Marvel president Kevin Feige said in an interview with Comic Book, as cited by Metro.uk. "We've got Skrulls, we've got the Kree, it takes place in the 90s, you have Sam Jackson with two eyes and Carol Danvers, a unique telling of Carol Danvers origin story."
Aside from the characters mentioned above, "Captain Marvel" will also see Samuel L. Jackson as the head agent of S.H.I.E.L.D, Nick Fury; Djimon Hounsou as Korath; Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser; Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva; Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson; and Jude Law as Mar-Vell / Walter Lawson. Actors Annette Bening, Colin Ford, Vik Sahay, Robert Kazinsky, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte and Ben Mendelsohn, have also been cast in undisclosed roles.
"Captain Marvel" is set to arrive in the United States on March 8, 2019.
