It sounds like "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." will not be winding down any time soon. The sixth season of the popular television series will not air until 2019, but ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey has some exciting news for fans.

In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey said she does not see "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." nearing its end. However, nothing is entirely set in stone yet.

"We'll see. I feel like last season was our strongest creative season ever and the fan base remains very loyal - and we do very well in delayed viewing," ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey said. "It's my hope that by moving it to summer, where our live-same-day ratings are less important and it might be able to continue for longer," she added.

Ever since "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." debuted in Sept. 2013, its ratings have dropped continuously although its critical response has improved due to its loyal and dedicated fan base. In fact, the show's fifth season averaged 3.57 million total viewers, including from DVR recordings.

As fans will recall, the season 5 finale of "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." showed the members of Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division, known as S.H.I.E.L.D., arguing about the usage of the Centipede serum.

The intense scene continued with Robin Hinton (Lexy Kolker) informing Glenn Talbot (Adrian Pasdar) about a Gravitonium deposit in Chicago, to which he commandeers Qovas' ship. As a result, Daisy 'Skye' Johnson/Quake (Chloe Bennet) enlisted the help of Alphonso Mackenzie (Henry Simmons) to lead S.H.I.E.L.D. and to evacuate the civilians as soon as possible.

The scene, then, shifted to Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) giving Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) with the Centipede serum, but he humbly declined. Instead, he hides it inside Daisy 'Skye' Johnson's gauntlets before he convinced her to go head-to-head against Glenn Talbot (Adrian Pasdar) alone.

Daisy 'Skye' Johnson tried appealing Glenn Talbot's patriotism, but to no avail. Just when the latter was about to launch an attack, the former found the serum inside her gauntlets and immediately infused it to herself.

She, then, unleashed all her enhanced abilities to blast the brigadier general of the U.S. Air Force into pieces. The episode ended with Phil Coulson saying his heartfelt goodbye to his fellow agents.

Meanwhile, "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Season 6 will have 13 episodes and is set to air in mid-2019 on ABC.
