“Pokemon Go” players have a long road ahead, especially the ones who are planning to add the mythical Celebi to their Pokedex. Snagging the said pocket monster will require a long and tedious task with most required to fulfill certain goals that require some elements in the augmented reality game.

As mentioned in a previous post, there are several steps needed. A time element plays an integral role, especially the ones which require “Pokemon Go” players to capture a critter and another that calls for evolving one for consecutive days. Evolution stones can also be collected from the Celebi Special Research, a new feature introduced in the second generation of Pokemon.

For the benefit of players who are not that familiar with Evolution stones, these are items that have now become a focal point. They could previously be collected through spinning at PokeStops with slim chances of success. Best chances of getting one are on the seventh day of PokeStop spinning streaks, yet again another time-sensitive endeavor, Game Rant said.

Compared to capturing Celebi, the Evolution Stones loom as a side reward for people who dread having to rely on luck at PokeStops. And from the looks of it, the same holds true for future events such as the Johto Festival Field Research. As far as the Celebi Special Research, below are the steps where the Evolution Stones can be earned:

  • Sun Stone (Step 2)
  • King’s Rock (Step 3)
  • Metal Coat (Step 4)
  • Upgrade (Step 5)
  • Dragon Scale (Step 6)

Hence, Evolution Stones should start dropping starting the second step. Do take note that this is also the phase where players will have to practice patience since they will have to catch a Pokemon for three consecutive days.

Looking forward to the Johto Festival Field Research, “Pokemon Go” players can earn all stones once they complete the Catch 3 Sunkern Festival Research. This calls for players to evolve a Sunkern into a Sunflora using a Sun Stone. For players who intend to do so, it would be best to start stocking up on Sunkern candy.

For now, collecting Evolution Stones until the Johto Festival Field Research should ease some burden on players. However, it remains to be seen if Niantic plans to carry this to future ones or perhaps adding similar and typical rewards to augmented reality gamers.

If so, it also poses another problem for players in terms of inventory. Unless they upgrade the storage capacity, some may find themselves trying to manage their bags and rid it of unneeded items to make room for these important “Pokemon Go” stuff.
