“Pokemon Go” has rolled out the Special Research quest titled “A Ripple in Time,” something that should get augmented reality players busy in the coming days. Embarking on the quest will give them the chance to add another rare critter to their inventory – the mythical Celebi.

In order to be successful, “Pokemon Go” players will need to go through eight steps with multiple objectives. The thought alone seems like hard work although the reward is obviously worth the time and effort. Hence, patience would be needed, especially for the objectives which have some time element tied up to them.

One step, actually the first, requires “Pokemon Go” players to power up any Pokemon 5 times, battle in a gym twice and battle in a raid. Each objective seems like hard work although the most tedious one is the part on battling in raids. With raids only happening in certain parts of the day, it is the most critical among the objectives. With regards to power up, Game Rant said powering pocket monsters up is not limited to one. This means a player can power up 5 different critters if he pleases.

Another step, the second, requires a player to make 3 friends, evolve a grass-roots type of Pokemon and catch a pocket monster for three consecutive days. Again, the time element comes to play, referring to capturing a Pokemon for three consecutive days. Patience would be needed although the other two should be easy to do.

The fourth step is technically a time-sensitive one as well. Evolving an Eevee to an Espeon during the day and sending 20 gifts to friends would be the easy parts. It is the part where one would need to walk 10 kilometers using Eevee as a player’s buddy that could be strenuous. Depending on how far one walks, one can only imagine the distance and time needed to get this done. The same holds true for the fifth step, the difference of which is evolving Eevee to Umbreon but at night.

The sixth step practically doubles the second step where a player would need to catch a Pokemon for 7 days in a row, Eurogamer said. Hence, if a player misses catching one during the day, the collective efforts will be rendered futile.

Each step does offer rewards although the main objective of most is to get that chance of snagging Celebi. One thing that’s for sure, “Pokemon Go” players who want one will have to earn their keep. It would be best to keep track of their progress and fulfill all the requirements. Missing one sends a player back to the beginning, hence another week to get to the eighth and final stage for a chance to add a mythical Pokemon to one’s collection.
