Mondelez International, Oreo's parent company, announced two new big and bold flavors that it will be launching initially in China: Hot Chicken Wing and Wasabi flavored-filling between those chocolate cookies.

In a tweet on Aug. 21, the company introduced the new flavors as one "innovation sensation." In one photo that comes with the tweet, the two chocolate wafers were shown with bright orange cream filling that can be easily compared to spicy buffalo sauce. Another photo shows the Oreo chocolate wafers rich with bright green cream, suggesting that it is the Wasabi variant of the well-loved cookie.

The new daring flavors are gaining mixed reactions over Twitter. Many were not ashamed to express their disgust about the new brands. Some of them were even suspecting that the company's post was an early April Fool's Day prank. A few accused Oreo's parent company of publicity stunt. One netizen said the company might as well be releasing a toothpaste flavored-filling for Halloween.

Some were curious with a few saying that it was launched in China because it will not suit the Western palates.

A few were not just curious but is very much willing to try and ask about whether the flavors will be coming to the United States in the future.

There has been no official announcement coming from Oreo as of press time, not even on Mondelez International official website. Delish, however, noted that the flavors are already available for order on eBay as of Aug. 28.

Oreo has actually released unconventional chocolate wafer flavored-filling in the past but none has created strong reactions like the ones observed about Hot Chicken Wing and Wasabi flavors.

On June 4, Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie and Pistachio Thins were made available in supermarkets in the United States. Three limited flavors will also be launched by the end of 2018. These are Peppermint Bark, Good Humor Strawberry, and Rocky Road Trip.

There were other wilder flavors introduced previously, including kettle corn cream filling, fireworks, and Peeps.

Earlier in August, Cherry Cola Oreo won the My Oreo Creation Contest where people were asked to submit their unique recipe suggestion. A woman from California took home the $500,000 grand prize. Cherry Cola Oreo beat the Kettle Corn Oreos and Pina Colada Oreo Thins according to People.

Mondelez International is aiming to achieve its 2020 impact goals that include an objective to double the rate of production of its well-being brands. Under this goal, is a target to reduce sodium by 2 percent in all Oreo brands globally.
