Japanese made household products gains sales popularity within the markets of Japan. The "made in Japan" label proves sales strength over Chinese made products.

The Wall Street Journal reported that makers of household products dominate the market in China.

Ray Tsuchiyama said in his article in the Forbes that the "Made in Japan" label in a product means extolling innovation, attractive design, user-friendly and long lasting products. It is a complete opposite of the label's meaning in the 1950s - 60's which is cheap, and unreliability.

He noticed that "Made in Japan" products are sought after than the products of its neighboring countries including Korean and Chinese products by the younger and older generation. Japanese products like Canon digital cameras, Nikon binoculars, Sharp plasma flat televisions, Sony Blue-ray DVD players and Fuji laptops usually display quality. According to him buyers usually examine the bottom of the products to make sure it is made in Japan. Even Chinese tourists patronize Japanese made products in his observation while he is in Japan.

The popularity of the "Made in China" label extends even inside the walls of China. Producers of consumer goods in Japan have discovered the extent of the advantage of the label when compared to Chinese products. The label means better quality than their Chinese counterpart. Wang Lim, a Japan-based Chinese executive director of Shanghai ShenXing Brush-making Co., decided to open a factory in Osaka that makes toothbrushes to be marketed in China.

According to Mr.Wang, the prices of products in China are rising which forces consumers to look for more reliable products. He said that the Chinese People have a good impression on Japan made products.

The Japan-made products usually have lower or equal price with the Chinese products but since Japanese products are more popular in terms of quality consumers usually choose Japan over China-made products.
